Easy Install Wordpress

This is a really simple way to get your website up and running. Firsly you need to log into your website's control panel. You web host should have given you the details on how to do this, if you are using hostgator simply go to your site and add /cpanel to the address.

example - http://yourwebsite.com/cpanel

You will be brought to your sites control panel which will look like the image below

Scroll down the page until you find Fantastico De Luxe

Click on the icon for fantastico and you will be brought to the following page, click on the wordpress link to install wordpress

Click on new installation and you will open up the window where you can fill in the details of your website and where you want to install wordpress

On this screen you will fill in your details, choose your website from the drop down menu. In the box that says "install in directory" leave this blank if you want you blog to appear on the home page of your site. (Unless you are making a static website and want to add a blog in which case you can install it in another directory such as "http://yourwebsite.com/blog"

Create an admin username and password for your wordpress install and enter your email address that you want to use for this site. Add the title for your website and a description if you want (you can change this at any time later) and press "install wordpress"

Click on finish installation

You have just installed wordpress, now you can go to your site and you will see the basic wordpress theme that comes with the install, it should look like the image below.

You can now log into your wordpress dashboard with the username and password you set up earlier, you do this by going to your website address and /wp-admin eg. http://yoursite.com/wp-admin

Log in and you will find your dashboard, you should take some time now to look around and become familiar with the layout of your dashboard. We will be covering how to use wordpress in the next step
